Wireless Networks:

3.1.12 - Outline the advantages and disadvantages of wireless networks.
Good: Connect to multiple devices; cheap to install or setup; "safe" with WPA or WPA-2; very mobile
Bad: Has a fixed range; accessibility- interference such as walls and windows; security if no passwords

3.1.13 - Describe the hardware and software components of a wireless network.
LAN { router, modem, computer device, ISP- for use with the internet} Business: access points, managed wireless networks, software for security

3.1.14 - Describe the characteristics of wireless networks.
Without a physical connection; WIFI- a,b,c,d,g; WiMax-WWAN up to a range of 50 km; 3G- Digital communication; 4G- Sends data over different frequency (subset of WiMax); future networks-5G(not restricted by range)

Other types:
Bluetooth, Infra-red?, NFC- near field communication

3.1.15 - Describe the different methods of network security.
WEP- wireless encryption protocol; WPA- wireless protected access; WPA-2- WIFI protected access 2; Encryption types: data encryption, user ID, mac - Media Access Control; IPSec

3.1.16 - Evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of each method of network security
